IOP Center for International Collaboration (IOPCIC)

Overview
The IOP Center for International Collaboration (IOPCIC) invites influential scientists from all over the world to visit IOP, either on a regular basis or for a short period of time, to develop stable and substantial partnership with local researchers and groups, and to promote international exchanges of all kinds. It is also a talent cultivation program aiming at promising young scientists, to offer them the opportunity to experience the rapid research development in the field of physics in mainland China, in particular at IOP, and to encourage them to apply for faculty positions at IOP.
The program is open to researchers of the following three categories. The requirements and benefits of each category are as follows.
  1. Long-term members
    1. Requirements:
      Faculty member from a well-known overseas university or research institute, with significant scientific achievements and extensive international influence.
      Expected to stay more than nine weeks for a period of three years at IOP with a possibility of renewing the membership three years later subject to mutual interests.
      Expected to actively initiate research activities and collaborations, including giving seminars and lectures, organizing workshops and conferences, and jointly conducting research projects.
    2. Benefits:
      A living allowance of RMB 40K-80K per month.
      Reimbursement of international air fare of three round trips for the three years.
  2. Visitors
    1. Requirements:
      Scientists from a well-known overseas university or research institute, with significant scientific achievements and extensive international influence.
      Expected to actively initiate research activities and collaborations, including giving seminars and lectures, organizing workshops and conferences, and jointly conducting research projects.
    2. Benefits:
      A living allowance of RMB 40K-60K per month.
      The reimbursement of international air fare to be agreed upon.
  3. Promising young scientists
    1. Requirements:
      Postdoctoral researchers or promising PhD students, with research experience from a well-known overseas university or research institute, who have shown great potential in related research field.
    2. Benefits:
      A living allowance of RMB 1K-1.5K per day.
      Reimbursement of international air fare.
How to Apply
Candidates shall get recommendation from IOP researchers to join the program or apply directly to the following contact. The Executive Committee of IOPCIC convenes twice a year in spring and autumn to review all applications. A personal resume, with a publication list and a description of achievements, is required for the application.
