The 8th China International Conference on Nanoscience and Technology (ChinaNANO 2019), sponsored by the National Steering Committee for Nanotechnology and organized by the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, was held at the Beijing International Convention Center on August 17, 2019.

CAS Academician Bai Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), chaired the conference. More than 2,500 academicians, experts, young scholars and business elites engaged in nanotechnology research from over 40 countries and regions around the world participated in the conference.

On the afternoon of August 19, Academician Gao Hongjun made the final plenary lecture, "Observation of Majorana Bound State in an Iron-based Superconductor", before the closing ceremony of the conference.

After the lecture, P. Weiss, editor-in-chief of ACS Nano and professor of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), on behalf of the organizing committee of ChinaNANO 2019 and Academician Bai Chunli, chairman of the conference, awarded Gao Hongjun the ChinaNano Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the construction and functionalization of low-dimensional nano quantum structures.

ChinaNANO 2019 is not only a platform for international academic exchanges in the field of nanotechnology, but also a competition and cooperation platform for nano-enterprises to look globally, demonstrate competitiveness, and develop emerging markets. The organizing committee of ChinaNANO 2019 specially set up the "Nanotechnology Exhibition" to create an opportunity for high-tech enterprises in the nano field to communicate with internationally renowned experts, research scholars, hospital directors, etc., and jointly create a nanotechnology innovation and supply chain through cooperation among "government organizations, businesses, manufacturers, universities, and research institutions". ChinaNANO 2019 has set up the following exhibition areas: New Energy, New Materials, Nanomedicine, In-vitro Diagnosis, Nanodevices, Nanofabrication, Nanomeasurement, and Nanotechnology-related Press, so that exhibitors can comprehensively publicize and display materials, products, equipment and services related to nano technology.
