A delegation from the Institute of Physics (IOP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) visited the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) in Switzerland on November 25-27, 2019, and talked with local talents.

On the evening of November 25 and 27 respectively, the delegation held meetings with local talents. More than 100 overseas students and researchers attended the meetings. Prof. Hu Jiangping, deputy director of IOP, Prof. Zhang Guangyu and Prof. Weng Hongming introduced IOP's history, its research areas and research progress, and identified IOP's orientation towards world-class achievements and world-class benefits, and advantageous conditions on academic atmosphere, assessment systems and supporting facilities. Moreover, they explained IOP's layout of "One Village and Three Lakes", that is, to develop IOP headquarters in Zhongguancun for basic research, to construct the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory in Dongguan, One Facility & Two Centers near Yanqi Lake, Huairou District of Beijing, and to carry out science commercialization and academic exchange activities near Tianmu Lake, Liyang. Prof. Zhang Guangyu highlighted the development situation, future planning and research areas of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory. Then, IOP researchers had an in-depth discussion with students and scholars present on specific issues including related research directions, planning and development of Three Lakes, and supportive policies for introducing talents. In the meeting, the IOP's momentum and its support for young talents received much attention. In the lively atmosphere, many students and scholars expressed their hope to work in IOP in the future.
