On November 11, a delegation from Italy's National Research Council (CNR, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), led by Prof. Stefano Fabris (Director of the Department of Physical Sciences and Technologies of Matter), Prof. Federico Boscherini (Director of Materials Research Institute, University of Bologna) and Prof. Caterina Vozzi (Director of Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology, Milan Polytechnic University), visited the Institute of Physics (IOP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

IOP Deputy Director Jiangping Hu, Prof. Dong Su, Prof. Zhiyi Wei, Prof. Hongming Weng, Prof. Jimin Zhao, Prof. Xinguo Ren, Prof. Pengju Zhang, and Prof. Shuo Dong attended the meeting. On behalf of IOP, Prof. Jiangping Hu extended a warm welcome to the CNR delegation. He presented an overview of IOP, including its basic profile, scientific research progress, development plans, and international cooperation and exchange initiatives. Members of the CNR delegation then introduced the general situation of CNR and its affiliated research institutes respectively.

The two sides discussed possible future academic exchanges and collaborations in basic science. The delegation later visited IOP's Laboratory of Optical Physics, Laboratory for Surface Physics, Laboratory for Advanced Materials and Electron Microscopy, as well as the Huairou Campus, where they held discussions with relevant researchers.
