报告人简介:

In 1965,Yoshiaki Kato graduated from the Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, and in 1970 he completed his doctoral course also in the Department of Applied Physics at the Graduate School of Engineering of the same university. In May 1983 he was appointed to a professor at the Institute of Laser Engineering, Osaka University. In October 2007 he became a professor at The Graduate School for the Creation of New Photonics Industries (GPI). In April 2009 he was elected to the president of GPI and currently still holds that position. He is also a professor emeritus at Osaka University, a Fellow of The American Physical Society, and the Program Director of Photon Frontier Network Program under MEXT (The Ministry of Science, Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (from 2008 to present).

报告摘要:

Various programs are undertaken on development of high power lasers in Japan under MEXT/JST, CSTI and METI. In this presentation, I will introduce several activities on high power lasers, including MEXT Photon Frontier Network (2008-2017), JST A-STEP on development of compact neutron sources including laser-driven neutron source (2017-2019), and JST MIRAI on Development of Laser-Plasma Acceleration Technologies Leading to Innovative Downsizing of High Energy Particle Accelerators (2017-2026).
