Refrigeration and temperature control involve a significant fraction of the electricity consumption nowadays.In this talk we will focus on two different aspects that will help us advance in this area: new characterization techniques and new materials. 

On the one hand, we will show that our newly proposed methodology for the analysis of the thermal hysteresis of magnetocaloric materials, named TFORC, allows us to gain valuable insight into the cyclic response of magnetocaloric materials and fine details of the phase transformation. 

On the other hand, we will present a novel fabrication procedure for the obtention of homogeneous composite filaments for additive manufacturing and we will demonstrate that the magnetocaloric response of the fillers is not affected by the manufacturing procedure.

报告摘要：

Victorino Franco is a professor at the Condensed Matter Physics Department of the University of Seville, Spain. His main research interests cover magnetic materials for energy applications, including soft-magnetic, magnetocaloric materials and functional high entropy alloys. He has published more than 230 peer-reviewed technical articles and received more than 11,900 citations to his work. He currently serves as a scientific manager in the area of functional materials for the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI). He has been elevated to Fellow of IEEE in 2023 and the TMS will hold the honorary symposium “Advanced Soft Magnets and Magnetocaloric Materials: An FMD Symposium Honoring Victorino Franco” in Orlando in 2024.
