Abstract:

With reduced dimensions, quantum materials are more susceptible to external stimuli. Yet, exploring their electronic phase space remains challenging, particularly for materials with chemical or thermodynamic instability. In this talk, I aim to outline our efforts to overcome this challenge by in-situ topochemical engineering. Topochemical reactions within devices fabricated from host materials allow for large tunability of electronic properties, precisely probed by operando transport measurements. As examples, I will present our studies of emergent quantum phases in layered chalcogenides [1], atomically thin cuprate superconductors [2], and also nickelate superconductors [3].

Brief CV of Dr. Yijun Yu:

Dr. Yijun Yu is currently a postdoc at Stanford University. He obtained his PhD from Fudan University in 2018. He continued his research as a postdoc, supported by the national postdoctoral program for innovative talent at Fudan University until 2021. Dr. Yijun Yu's recent research is focused on controlling the electronic properties of low dimensional quantum materials by soft chemistry approaches.
