FANG Zhong, Director

About:
Zhong Fang is a distinguished professor of condensed matter theory and computational physics at the Institute of Physics (IoP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He received his Ph.D. in physics in 1996, from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Mainland China. He continued his researches as a visiting scientist in the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) of Japan and in Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) of the United States from 1996 to 2003. He returned to China in 2003 and established the group of computational physics (T03) at IoP-CAS. He was elected as APS Fellow in 2011, and Academician of CAS in 2019.

Research Interests:
Condensed Matter Theory and Computational Physics, particularly in Spin-orbital Physics and Topological Physics.
