The IOP-HU Early Career Researcher Conference on Condensed Matter Physics was held on October 12-14 at Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center, Liyang, Jiangsu province. The conference was jointly organized by the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP, CAS) and the Humboldt-Universit？t zu Berlin (HU Berlin). More than 50 renowned scientists and early career researchers from both home and abroad attended the conference.

The Conference aims at providing early career researchers with a stimulating environment to discuss current research, interact with domestic and international condensed matter physicists, and pursue further research in China and Germany.

On October 13, Prof. Jiandong Guo, Assistant Director of IOP, made an opening remark and warmly welcomed all participants. A total of 22 early career researchers reported their latest research progress through oral personations or poster presentations. The participants also had heated discussions afterwards. At the end of the day, five "Best Presentation Awards" were elected through voting.

On October 14, a total of 16 renowned scientists presented their latest research progress, focusing on areas such as surface physics, electron microscopy, theory and simulation, and quantum information. Prof. Carlos-Andres Palma of IOP introduced potential postdoctoral funding opportunities at IOP to the participants, such as the IOP-Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physics, the IOP International Young Scientist Fellowship and the CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative, and encouraged the early career researchers to apply for the programs.

On October 16, the participants visited IOP laboratories on Zhongguancun and Huairou campuses to learn more about the research developments and scientific facilities at IOP. They had in-depth exchanges and discussions with local researchers and students.

IOP and HU Berlin signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2020, with the aim to strengthen cooperation through cooperative research, international conferences, personnel exchanges, and joint cultivation of postdoctoral fellows. The "IOP-HU Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physics" was launched in 2021. The IOP-HU Early Career Researcher Conference on Condensed Matter Physics has strengthened the collaborations and exchanges between the two institutions, and provided an important platform for academic exchanges for the early career researchers.
