CECAM-CN Workshop on Physics of Mesoscale Liquid Condensates held in Liyang

Date:06-12-2024 Print

The CECAM-CN Workshop on Physics of Mesoscale Liquid Condensates was held from November 18 to 21, 2024, at the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center in Liyang City, Jiangsu Province. The workshop was hosted by the Institute of Physics (IOP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and organized by the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center. Over 50 renowned experts and young scholars from around the world participated in the event.

On November 18th, the conference chairs, Prof. Jure Dobnikar from IOP and Prof. Ignacio Pagonabarraga from the University of Barcelona, warmly welcomed the attending scholars from China and abroad.

On November 20th, Prof. Jiangping Hu, Deputy Director of IOP, gave a brief introduction of IOP and the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center to the attendees. He expressed his hope that this conference would further strengthen international academic exchanges and foster more collaborations.

During the four-day workshop, 28 experts from 10 countries delivered keynote presentations. Participants engaged in academic discussions and exchanges on topics such as mesoscale separation in active soft matter, the physical mechanisms controlling biomolecular condensates under non-biological conditions, and the control and regulation of phase-separated soft matter in complex environments.

CECAM-CN is the first node established by CECAM (Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire) in Asia in 2024. It was jointly founded by six member institutions, including IOP, the Beijing Computational Science Research Center, and Peking University, aiming to promote international cooperation and exchange in computational science. This international workshop served as the flagship event for CECAM-CN, providing a valuable platform for scholars from China and abroad to interact. In the future, CECAM-CN will regularly organize various academic activities, including international workshops, summer schools, and seminars.
