摘要:

The Kramers-Wannier self-duality of classical statistical or quantum many-body models at criticality is one prototypical example of the so-called non-invertible symmetries. In this talk, we will revisit the Kramers-Wannier self-duality in lattice systems from the perspective of model wave functions. Although generalisable to certain more complicated models, the approach will be illustrated with the simplest example, namely the critical quantum Ising chain in a transverse magnetic field. We shall see that the Kramers-Wannier self-duality follows from a 'half-step translation symmetry' (which we will define) of the model wave function; the symmetry operator implementing this transformation, in turn, is directly related to 'topological' data in the conformal field theory describing the criticality.
