Announcement of the CECAM-CN Flagship School Understanding Molecular Simulation

Dear colleagues,

  We are pleased to announce the upcoming CECAM-CN Flagship School: Understanding Molecular Simulation to be held at IoP, Beijing, from April 26 – May 3. This week-long school offers a program focusing on numerical techniques for the study of properties of many-particle systems. It offers a recap of the statistical mechanics relevant for molecular simulation and addresses basic and advanced simulation techniques including Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics, free energy calculations, rare events, modelling systems with many-body and long-range interactions, and coarse graining procedures – without discussing particular software packages. Additionally, two special topics will be organized: on machine learning and its applications in condensed matter and biological physics, and on modelling of the fluid flow.

  The school consists of an integrated program of lectures and hands-on exercises. Exercise handouts and copies of the lecture slides will be provided. A poster session will be an opportunity for participants to present their research in an informal setting. We are pleased to have attracted an excellent group of international speakers who will deliver the lectures – including Daan Frenkel (University of Cambridge), a world-leading researcher in the field of molecular simulations and an author of the reference book “Understanding Molecular Simulation”, which constitutes a basis structure for the school lectures.

  We extend a warm invitation to all IOP PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and advanced MSc students to participate. We would also be grateful if you spread this invitation among your colleagues from other institutions in China and abroad.

The detailed information of the school is as follows;
