Abstract:

To meet the demands of emerging applications such as 5G, 8K, AR/VR in the upcoming decade of the 2020s, optical networks need to be further evolved to provide high capacity, as well as low cost and power per bit. In this talk, we will review enabling optical and photonic technologies in optical transport and access networks, such as high-speed coherent detection, silicon photonics, DFB and DBR lasers, photo-detectors, and photonic integration for mobile-optimized optical transport network (M-OTN) and 50-Gb/s passive optical network (50G-PON).

Brief bio:

刘翔博士现任华为美研所光网络高级专家。曾在贝尔实验室从事了14年的高速光纤传输技术的研发,如40G/100G/400G/1T传输。他于1994年在中科院物理所获得物理学硕士学位,2000年在康奈尔大学获得应用物理博士学位。已撰写300多篇学术论文,并拥有60多项美国专利。曾荣获中国国家发明二等奖、中科院科技进步一等奖(两次)、贝尔实验室总裁奖(两次)、朗讯总裁奖、及华为固网总裁奖。他是美国光学学会Fellow、美国光学快报副主编、IEEE通讯杂志光学通讯系列主编、及光纤通信会议(OFC)2016年的技术委员会主席。
