Topological phases in light-element materials

The unique properties of topological metal/semimetals (TMs) have strongly driven efforts to seek for new topological phases and related materials. In contrast to the topological materials based on heavy elements, we proposed some topological materials consisting of light elements such as carbon and boron atoms. The light-element materials exhibit rich topological phases[1-7], such as Dirac/Weyl points, nodal lines/rings/chains, triple points, nexus points, nodal networks, nodal surfaces/sphere/tube. In these structures, the topological properties can be clearly clarified by orbital physics. In addition, we also identify that various topological phases can also be obtained by stacking layered two-dimensional nanosheets.


陈元平,江苏大学教授,博士生导师。目前主要从事凝聚态物理中的量子输运和拓扑材料的研究,尤其在碳材料的研究中作了一系列的工作。以第一作者或者通讯作者在Nature Comm., Phys. Rev. Lett., Nano Lett., Phys. Rev. B等国际重要学术刊物上发表SCI论文80余篇,研究成果两次被Nature子刊选为研究亮点进行专题报道,被Phys. Rev. Lett.选为Editors' suggestions,二次被Nanoscale选为Hot articles,被J. Phys. Chem. Lett.选为Spotlights,被J. Phys. D选为封面。主持国家自然科学基金项目7项、省部级项目多项。获湖南省自然科学奖一等奖、湖南省科技进步奖三等奖、湖南省优秀博士学位论文奖、湖南省自然科学优秀学术论文一等奖等奖励。
