Abstract

The traditional way to study critical phenomena is that we start with some microscopic structure and follow the RG flow to the critical points. Despite many success, this reductionism approach has limit in many situations. An alternative way is the bootstrap idea: we try to ask what constrains could directly determine the macroscopic theory without knowing the microscopic details. Although at first glance it sounds too good to be true, in the past few years many exciting results are obtained following this idea. In this talk, I will discuss new developments in conformal bootstrap and apply them to 3D Ising, super-Ising, O(2), O(3) models, where we obtained state-of-the-art results on critical exponents.

Brief CV of Dr. Ning Su:

Dr. Ning Su obtained his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Melanie Becker. After graduation, he worked at Institute of Theoretical Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne as postdoc fellows. His main research interests are bootstrap method in QFT and its applications to condensed matter and high energy theories.
