Quantum Thermalization and Gauge Theory

In this talk, I first review two experimental progresses in ultracold atoms. One is the discovery of partially breaking of quantum thermalization in a Rydberg atom system, also known quantum many-body scar. The other is the realization of lattice Schwinger model with bosons in optical lattices. I will show that these two models are equivalent and discuss the connection between quantum many-body scar and confinement-deconfinement transition.
