This presentation covers basics of intellectual property which absolutely necessary for scientists and engineers working in university environment. Scientific research is always associated with innovations. Do they need to be protected? Are they profitable? Who owns the inventions made at the university? Do you need global protection or just national? What kind of patent you should file? These and other questions will be covered in the presentation.

Dr. Nadya Reingand is a former scientist with PhD thesis in laser physics.Currently she is the President of Patent Hatchery, USA company dealing with Intellectual Property protection for the inventors from 28 countries around the globe: patents, trademarks, and copyright. She has edited two books “Intellectual property in academia: practical guide for scientists and engineers” (2011), which is the bestseller of the Publishing company, and also “Optical imaging and Metrology: Advanced Technologies” (2012).
